The origin of Uno Port

In the old days Uno Port was small village called Uno Bay.
The major industries of this village were salt making and fishing.
It is said that this port was established around 1583, and when Hideyoshi Toyotomi
built Osaka Castle, a great deal of stone was carried from Uno Port.
This port was completed as a railway ferry terminal between Honshyu and Shikoku in 1910.
It opened as the first trading port in Okayama in 1930 and was designated as one of the important ports in the country in 1951.
Now, it has been refurbished as a major port for passenger boats.
